Read moreThe evaluation committee for the positions of one post-doc researcher and one PhD student for the project "OTTPOL - A history of early modern Ottoman political thought, 15th to early 19th centuries", which is implemented under the "Aristeia II" Action of the 2007-2013 Greek National Strategic Reference Framework (Operational Programme "Education and Lifelong Learning"), co-funded by the EU (European Social Fund) and national resources, examined the applications on March 7, 2014. After considering the qualifications of the applicants, the committee decided that the most suitable applicant according to the criteria of the call is Ms Ekin Tuşalp Atıyas for the position of the post-doctoral researcher and Ms Marina Demetriadou for the position of the PhD student.

Read moreThe Institute for Mediterranean Studies - Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (IMS-FORTH) (Rethymno, Greece) announces a Post-Doctoral scholarship for a scholar to participate in the implementation of the project 'OTTPOL - A History of Early Modern Ottoman Political Thought, 15th to Early 19th Centuries', which is implemented under the "Aristeia II" Action (NSRF 2007-2013), for a total duration of up to 16 months (end of term: July 2015). The post-doctoral fellow must be specialized in Ottoman history and experienced in archival research and Ottoman palaeography.
Application materials must be submitted to the Principal Investigator of the project, Dr Marinos Sariyannis, by e-mail at sariyannis@ims.forth.gr by March 3rd, 2014. Please submit curriculum vitae, a copy of your PhD, a one-page description of your specialization and your potential research plan in the general framework of the project, and contact information of one or more referees.

The volume is a result of a research project carried by the Institute and funded by the Prefecture of Lefkada. The publication includes a historical introduction by Elias Kolovos, commented translations of the Ottoman sources in Greek, by Elias Kolovos and Marinos Sariyannis, and prolegomena by Spyros I. Asdrachas.
