Ioannis Diamantopoulos
Centre of Maritime History
Ioannis Diamantopoulos was born in Athens in 1994. He studied History at the Department of History of the Ionian University (2012-2016), where he received his MA in Ancient History (2016-2019).
Since February of 2022 he has been a PhD candidate of Ancient History at the Department of History and Archaeology of University of Crete. His dissertation deals with “The Names of Slaves and the History of Slavery in the Late Republican and Imperial period in the Greek-speaking Eastern Mediterranean”.
He has participated as a researcher in the following research projects at IMS/FORTH:
• NAVS: Promotion and material and technical documentation of Greek shipbuilding and naval history – the naval battles of Salamis and Navarino
• Onassis Business History
Research Interests: History of Slavery, Onomastics, Roman Greece, Greek-Latin Epigraphy, Roman Prosopography.
