Matan Flum
Dr. Matan Flum is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (FORTH), ERC Project MCH-EsMed. He holds a PhD in Development Planning from the Bartlett Development Planning Unit, University College London (UCL). His PhD was supported by the UCL Overseas Research Scholarship.
He is interested in Middle Easten geopolitics and Critical Whiteness Studies as well as Critical Discourse Studies. His research aims to examine the Middle-Eastern geopolitics through the dialogue between the built environment and "whiteness". Prior to Matan's PhD project, Prof. Dalia Gavriely-Nuri and Matan wrote a co-authored book, "Ma'abarot": It Is Not Just a Name of a Kibbutz: Ma'abarot Representations in the Israeli Culture, 1950-2015, published in 2021.
