Duration: 18 months
The aim of the Project KALLIPOS is the creation of an academic e-book that deals with the history of European drama and the various developments in the European theatre of the 20th century. More specifically, it examines playwrights and landmark plays of modern dramaturgy, starting with the philosophical theatre of Luigi Pirandello and the epic theatre of Bertolt Brecht and reaching the innovative "In-yer-face theatre" of Sarah Kane and Mark Ravenhill. The book consists of 13 chapters, in the content of which one can attend the history of 20th-century dramaturgy in Europe and its main representatives. Some of the main objects of analysis are the following: the biographical information of each playwright and their historical, social and cultural environment; the authors' landmark works and their importance in the history of European theatre during the 20th century; the main characteristics of the plays and the signs of breaking with the past and continuity with the future; elements of plot, characters, form, and structure; critical literature for study and suggested dramaturgical issues for further research for the student.
