Sarris, A.; Karakoudis, St.; Vidaki, Ch.; Soupios, P., "Study of the Morphological Attributes of Crete through the Use of Remote Sensing Techniques", IASME Transactions, vol. 6, no. 2, pp. 1043–1051.
Quantitative estimates of the morphological attributes of the island of Crete have been computed through the application of directional derivatives to the digital elevation model and the classification of loci with common landform characteristics. The specific study has also investigated the correlation of the resulting geomorphometric units with the geological properties of the island, including geological formations and faults. In the latter case, ground prospection methods and macroscopic geological surveys have been applied in order to verify the results of this correlation.
