International Conference: Research in the Mediterranean - History and Culture
The conference aims to trigger reflection on the research of the history and culture in the Mediterranean and worldwide and to provide an overview of the scholarly trends in the last twenty years and the experts’ changing research agendas in the various fields studied at the Institute. The idea is to reflect on history and culture of all periods – ancient, medieval, early modern and modern – and of all kinds: economic, social, political, maritime, diaspora, local or global history; Ottoman, Venetian, Greek or Balkan history; history of science & technology, history of art, history of theatre, history of cinema, philosophy or philology; archaeology in combination with geophysics and geoinformatics. These are all disciplines studied by the ten research groups in IMS-FORTH. The conference will give the opportunity to meet, discuss and interact with foreign scholars across fields in history and culture that are studied by the research groups of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies.
